Come and join us in celebrating the power of poetry by entering the readerjack.com Fall 2008 Poetry Contest!
Eligibility
The readerjack.com Fall 2008 Poetry Contest is open to all readerjack.com members (joining is free). Please enter as many poems as you like, in any form, maximum 50 lines. There are three categories in this contest:
Children ages 12 and under
Young Adult (12-18)
Adult (18 and up)
Once you have become a member of readerjack.com, send your poem to poetrycontestfall2008@readerjack.com.
Start/ Deadline/ Fee
The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2008.
Prizes
A 1st place prize of $100 will be rewarded in each category.
Decisions
Judges will review all the poems and make a decision based on artistic quality of the writing, creativity, originality of the poem, and the adherence to contest restrictions. Poems that are vulgar and offensive are not accepted. Contest winners will be posted about 3 weeks after the contest closes.
Rights
All poems remain the property of the author.
By submitting their work, entrants agree to have their work hosted on the readerjack.com website as part of an anthology or compilation or in any other form and/or used in any promotion of readerjack.com.
readerjack.com shall have the right to publish and sell their work. All works submitted as part of the Contest will be combined with other submissions into a compilation. This compilation will be hosted on readerjack.com. All royalties collected from each sale of the compilation and as part of the Fall 2008 Poetry Contest shall be given to a charity. By submitting a work you agree to the Contest Rules and the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policies of the readerjack.com web site.
Authors are welcome to submit their work on readerjack.com for hosting and publication independently of the Fall 2008 Poetry Contest compilation. the author will receive all royalties for the sale of their work as part of an author’s compliation or as an individual work submitted by the author, separate from the readerjack.com Poetry Contest compilation.
Prize Claim
The winner will be determined by the rules of the contest. If a selected winner can not be contacted within 31 days of the judges announcement, the winner will forfeit the prize and the prize will be donated to charity.

General Release
By entering the Contest, you release readerjack.com, and its respective affiliated companies, directors, officers, employees, representatives, and agencies from any liability whatsoever for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Contest or with the acceptance, possession, or use of any prize; including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, and losses related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation, or breach or copyright. By entering the Contest, you also give readerjack.com, and its respective affiliated companies, directors, officers, employees, representatives, agencies, and partners permission to contact you concerning products and services and any other applicable information.
Conditions
readerjack.com is not responsible for and will not be liable for any lost, late, misdirected, failure to receive entries or failed computer transmissions or network, computer, or electronic failures of any kind including any communications or computer failures or circumstances which affect, disrupt or corrupt the contest in any manner. readerjack.com will not be responsible or liable for errors in any materials associated with the Contest or any and all other errors, omissions or causes of such. Works submitted will not be corrected. All works are submitted on an as-is basis. readerjack.com reserves the right to change, alter or reformat the work for publishing purposes.
Consent to Use of Name and Work
As a condition of receiving any prize, winners warrant that they are eligible to qualify for the prize and, unless prohibited by applicable law, consent to the use of their name, address, picture, prize and/or and entry for promotional and other purposes without further payment.

Only email submissions with the story as a word .doc format attachment will be accepted.

Only submissions with the poem as an attachment are accepted.

Include the title of your poem, and – your name, address, phone number, and email address, in the body of your email only,

Include the title of the work, your name and state/ province and country at the top of your submission. When we publish it, the works title, your name, state/ province and country will be present and visible on the work.

Please do not enter the same poem in more than one category.
